Single Women Retiring Abroad (SWRA) is an organization of single, older women who have retired abroad. We are passionate about creating community, growing in sisterhood, and re-inventing ourselves.
Retirement is not the end of the road; it is the beginning of a beautiful new chapter. We are committed to living life to the fullest while aging gracefully.
Meet Maggie Lazarre
Founder of SWRA
Maggie envisioned a space where single women could confidently step out of their comfort zones and into international living without the fear of isolation.
Drawing from her own experiences moving abroad, she established SWRA to ensure that no woman has to navigate the complexities of retiring in a new country alone. Under her guidance, SWRA provides resources, consultations, and most importantly, a loving community.

Our Roots in Panama
SWRA’s initial group began in the beautiful, welcoming country of Panama. Known for its excellent healthcare, beautiful climate, and affordability, Panama serves as the perfect blueprint for what aging in place abroad can look like.
Looking to the Future
While our roots are in Panama, our vision is boundless. SWRA is open to forming other chapters around the world. We believe the model we are building can be adapted globally to help single older women everywhere find their tribe.
